"Nancy Where Are You?"

My friend ‘Nancy’, not her real name; I changed it in my book, Behind The Mask, has changed jobs and states, and I don’t know how to get in touch with her. So ‘Nancy’ if you are reading this, send me your new email address. I miss talking to you.

Doors are opening, word of mouth is spreading and Adopt A Caregiver is becoming more of a reality than a distant vision.

The future of every community can change how caregivers are treated. Every community has caregivers, be they from Alzheimer’s Disease stroke, heart attack, or MS. We hear things, we know people and we can help. All it takes is an email, a phone call, be a friend, listen, learn, help.

I read something the other day that said something like, being angry is wasting time on life. Angry doesn’t help. Depression doesn’t help. We have to learn to help ourselves. We have to cope, we have to be there. And it’s hard to do it alone. We all need support of families, and friends.  My support system was a secret journal that I wrote on my computer. No one knew about it. I think it saved my sanity.

Thank you to all those who are helping. Lisa, Linda, Sue, Gary, Steve, and so many others, too many to name. You know who you are. Thank you.

Keep love and kisses in your life. Helene

How To Adopt A Caregiver

I’m still learning all the ways to Adopt A Caregiver myself. Speaking to individuals and groups of people have inspired and motivated me to help caregivers find support and help.

Every community has someone who is a caregiver. Find out if they have a support group. Call them and tell them you want to Adopt A Caregiver. Explain to them exactly what that means. Ask your doctor if he knows someone who would benefit by your emails. Find out in church or synagogue, the caregivers are out there and they all need someone to listen and care without judging.

New statistics show that by 2010, which isn’t that far away, there will be a 38 % jump in Alzheimer’s Disease in Nevada since 2000.

The Lou Ruvo Brain Institute here in Nevada is a wonderful site to look at, they are doing great things and making huge strides in Alzheimer’s Disease.

Every day I hear stories that make my heart cry. Lets try to stop some of the tears.

I put two people together and I heard today that these two women had a phone conversation and it worked. Thank you so much. It’s so nice to hear a story that works out the way you would like to see it work out.

Hopefully in the near future, together with your help, we  will be able to connect more people together.

Let’s all Adopt A Caregiver. I have four.

Thank you Lisa for your kind words.

Keep love and kisses in your life Helene

How Would You Adopt A Caregiver

Adopt a caregiver, such a wonderful way to give back. Takes no time to write someone an email and let him/her know you are thinking of them. Alzheimer’s Disease is not contagious, remember the caregiver is lonely and scared; think of them once in a while.

If you have any comments on how you would adopt a caregiver please add to the comment section. I will try to answer each comment as quickly as possible.

Behind The Mask, my secret journal shows  how a new caregiver feels and what they are thinking about. Now that my book is out, I’m spending my time on getting the word out so you too can adopt a caregiver and give something back.

Let me know how you are doing.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Keep love and kisses in your life. Helene

A Long or Short Week

Short or long week coming up. Did pre op for finger surgery on Thursday for a gangling cyst. Then we are supposed to go to California to see our children and grandkids if all is well.

In the meantime, I’m keeping up with my adopt a caregiver program. I wrote to two of my caregivers this  morning.

Still getting remarkable comments for my book, Behind The Mask, and some are coming back for a second book.

If only I could reach more people for my adopt a caregiver program, but I’m satisfied that will happen in the near future. In the meantime, I speak to everyone I come in contact with.

And my next speaking engagement is July 8th. will tell you more about that next time.

Keep love and kisses in your life and check out my new website.  Helene Moore
